Fast Forward | Bun's in the oven and now it's coming like a knife in this life, it's a bundle of strife And we're calling her Ruthie cuz Olivia's granny was a saint to her back in her teenage daydream, Now my mother she's sick and she's not gonna make it and I'm crying but Ruthie just giggles and spits and the house that we're buying's gonna need lots of fixing and I'm really not sure how we're paying for it, But life could be worse in a million-so ways and I'm trying to smile even when I complain, and a year has gone by and it's the middle of June when I visit my mother in her hospital room, Holding pictures of Ruthie she's so happy and calm as she smiles at visions of what all is to come, Her last words to George and I, a quote from the Eagles, She says "Take it easy boys, take it easy", Life moves in Fast Forward Fast Forward Grooves dug in Fast Forward Forward' Oh baby it's hard to keep the eyes on the prize when the candle is fading in the dark of the night, And the camera's stuck at a high shutter speed in Fast Forward, Forward Always Forward, Now comes another 9-month wonder and Theresa is born but she's one month under, But the doctors at Holy Redeemer say she'll be fine and her vitals are kinda normal, It's a matter of time before she's climbing on bars over fake rubber surfaces and damn we must protect these kids from all these angles and gravity's power, If want e'Õ to grow into powerful flowers, Life moves in Fast Forward Fast Forward Grooves dug in Fast Forward Forward Oh baby it's hard to keep the eyes on the prize when the candle is fading in the dark of the night, And the camera's stuck at a high shutter speed in Fast Forward, Forward Always Forward |
